DOCTOR FOUND ON MOUNTAIN
Australian Search Ends (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, January 24. A rescue party yesterday found a Canberra doctor who had been lost on Mount Kosciusko, Australia’s highest peak, since Friday. The man, Dr. J. Martin, was almost unconscious and completely exhausted. He was soaked by rain and his limbs were so stiff from cold that the rescuers had difficulty in getting him into a car when they reached a road. Dd. Martin had been on a hiking and fishing expedition in the Australian alps in south-eastern New South Wales. Dr. Martin had arranged to rendezvous with a friend near the Mount Kosciusko Chalet on Friday night, but failed to appear. ‘ The chalet manager, Mr S. McGuinn, organised a rescue party of four, who set out in darkness with a strethcer. The party searched by torchlight in rough country for 15 hours before they found Dr. Martin almost frozen.
