Thomas’s Attempt Fails (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) SYDNEY, January 20. The Australian Olympic and Empire Games distance runner, Albert Thomas, last night failed in an attempt to lower his own world record for two miles but broke two Australian records. Running tn light rain at a special carnival at the Sydney Sports Ground, Thomas lapped the field to win In Bmin 35.4sec—3.4sec outside his world time, but 2.4 sec inside the Australian open two-mile record. Thomas also clipped lOsec from the 3000 metres Australian time, running the distance in Bmin I.4sec,
