TRIAL OF GUARD
“Killed Hundreds Of People”
MUNICH, Janus., 20. A former inmate of the Nazi Sachsenhausen concentration camp said in Court yesterday that a former guard, Richard Budgalle, had “killed hundreds if not thousands of people.” Bugdalle is charged with 28 murders, but former prisoners today said that Bugdalle had killed many more prisoners.
A former inmate, Fritz Bressau, who worked in the prisoners’ sick bay, alleged that during the winter months of 1939 at least 20 prisoners from Bugdalle’s section of me camp were brought m dead every day with lung congestion from being sprayed with freezing water.
Bugdalle, a 52-year-old formei sergeant in Hitler’s S.S., .is charged with the murders “out of lust for killing and other low motives.” Hans Lob, a former prisoner, told the Court that he remembered Bugdalle telling a professional criminal in the camp: “There are 100 defilers of the race here In six weeks Ido not want to see any nf them around any more.” He alleged that Bugdalle had made a Jewish opera singer, who used to perform at La Scala kneel before him, and ordered him to sing. While he was singing he continuously kicked him in the stomach yelling: “Can’t you sing, you swine?” The singer died the next day from torn bowels.
