Disarmament
Sir,—We read the letters of “Individualist” and “Academica.” To us, there does not seem to be any great difference between the nations who hold the fearful nuclear weapons in stock, for whoever holds them are equally responsible to all people It is no use to abuse any nation in particular. Why do people speak of the free world? How can it be while millions of children and people suffer great miseries. and all the world lives in fear of the weapon. Why do so many millions of people allow all this to continue? How horrible to allow the testing of nuclear weapons. Why don’t the people care to do something now; right away—before it is too late? When we first fepoke about our idea of a children’s petition, we thought thousands of children would be waiting to sign. No, it does not seem the way. although we still have it in mind. We would like to help our world in the most peaceful way.—Yours, LEONIE WILDER EL’NOR WILDER MARY WILDER Dunedin, January 15, 1960.
