MR A. R. LARCOMB RETIRES
50 Years’ Service With Firm
Mr A. R. Larcomb, who retired yesterday after 50 years’ service with Gollin and Company, Ltd., indentors, was bidden farewell by business associates and friends at a reception held at a city hotel last evening. After being educated at Palmerston North District High School, Mr Larcomb joined Gollin and Company at Wellington in 1910. He came to the Christchurch branch of the firm in 1916, and has been manager of the branch for the last 43 years. Tributes to Mr Larcomb’s long service with the firm were paid by Mr E. R. Wilmoth, the managing director. He also wished Mr Larcomb and his wife happiness in retirement, and made Mr Larcomb a presentation of a cheque. In reply, Mr Larcomb said that he had always found his business career a satisfying one, and said that if he had his time over again, he would still like to work for Gollin and Company. Mr Larcomb, who is a keen bowls player, and a past president of the Mount Pleasant Bowling Club, intends to devote some time during his retirement to this sport.
Mr Larcomb’s successor as Christchurch manager of Gollin and Company will be Mr Nigel Roake.
