Mr A. F. Excell To
Retire This Month Mr A. F. Excell, manager of the Commercial Bank of Australia in Christchurch tor the last 13 years, will retire at the end of the month. His successor is Mr H. E. Read who is bemg transferred from his present post as assistant-manager in Wellington. Mr Excell has been in the service of the bank since 1911. He came to New Zealand 10 years later as accountant to open the Gisborne branch.
Later appointments included managerships at Oamaru, Hawera, Gisborne and Hamilton. Mr Excell has been a member of the Canterbury council of the Justices of the Peace Association for the last six years, is a member of Town Hall Promotion and is a former deputy-president of the Royal Commonwealth Society. Mr Read joined the bank in 1930 at Wellington, and was appointed accountant. Christchurch branch, in 1948. He was subsequently appointed manager, Lower Hutt, in 1952 and manager, Te Aro, in 1954. In March, 1958, he was promoted to assistant manager, Wellington. Mr Read is a committee member of the Wellington division of the Chartered Institute of Secretaries. He is also a member of the Justices of the Peace Association.
