Pancho Gonzales To Retire
(NS.. Press Association—Copyright) LOS ANGELES, January 12. The world professional tennis champion, Pancho Gonzales, told reporters last night that he planned to marry and quit tennis this year. Gonzales said: “I’m tired of travelling. I am going to marry Madelyn Darrow (a 23-year-old model) in June, then settle here permanently and go into real estate.
"If I make any tennis appearances, they will be strictly local. I have been on the move for 12 years and I have had it.”
