Two Months’ Study Of Agriculture
The assistant director of the Department of Agriculture, Andhra Pradesh, India, Mr N. A. Naidu, arrived in Wellington this week for two months’ study in the field of agriculture. He is a Colombo Plan trainee, and is specially interested in soil fertility and plant nutrition, particularly cereal and horticultural crops. Mr Naidu has come from Australia where he has been studying under a Colombo Plan grant for the last 15 months at the Waite Agricultural Research Institute University of Adelaide. He passed
the examinations for an M.Sc. degree in agriculture last August He took his B.Sc. in agriculture at the Andhra University and a post-graduate diploma at the University of Madras. After completing his M.Sc. in Australia, Mr Naidu did practical training in all the States at research institutes of the CJS.IJLO. universities and Department of Agriculture, travelling some 14,000 miles. Before he left Australia the authorities offered him the opportunity of, studying there for his PhD., but as this would take him two years more he decided to return home after his New Zealand studies and work for the higher degree in India. Mr Naidu's programme here has been arranged by the Department of Agriculture.
