Desert Chief For Auckland
"The Press'" Special Service AUCKLAND, December 4. The Wingatui horses Sparkler and Desert Chief, which have important engagements at the Auckland Racing Club’s summer meeting, are expected next Saturday at Ellerslie, where they will complete their preparations.
They will make the trip from the south by air. Desert Chief Is a three-year-old colt by Ruthless from Zibette,' and one of the prominent candidates for the Great Northern Derby. He Is owned by Mr G. J. Barton, of Dunedin, and trained by D. G. O’Neill.
