SIR BLINK STRONG FAVOURITE
International Stakes At Flemington
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright)
MELBOURNE, Dec. 4. Sir Blink, ridden by the French jockey, Freddy Palmer, is favourite to win the £3OOO International Stakes at Flemington tomorrow and complete a “hat trick” for the New Zea-iand-bred gallopers. The last two Internationals run in Melbourne were won by Sir William and Harry Lime—both bred in New Zealand.
The strongest opposition to Sir Blink is expected to come from Gazette, naden by Jack Purtell, and the Perth mare, Dawdie, ridden by another top Victorian jockey. Bill Williamson.
The English jockey, Geoff Lewis, on Solgieam, is to be given some pointers to riding at Flemington by his father-in-law, the former Sydney jockey, Jim Munro.
Munro, whose Flemington triumphs included the 1925 and 1928 Melbourne Cups, on Windbag and Statesman, is flying to Melbourne to see the International Stakes. After Lewis has completed his contract to ride in the International Stakes in three states, he will stay in Sydney for riding engagements until Mai ch.
