FORECAST TO MIDNIGHT

Situation.—A ridge of high pressure extends across the North Island from the east and a weakening cold front is advancing over the South Island. Forecast:— Marlborough.—North-west winds, mainly fresh, but strong at times in exposed places; some scattered light rain but the weather mainly cloudy and mild. Outlook: cloudy. Nelson and Buller.—Moderate to fresh northerly winds; dull weather with occasional drizzle or rain; mild temperatures. Outlook: cloudy. Westland.—Light to moderate south-westerly winds* cloudy and mild. Outlook: cloudy. Canterbury.—Moderate southerlies at first, but moderate north-easterlies developing during the day; some scattered light rain during the morning, but becoming fair to cloudy temperatures mild. Outlook: fair.
