AUCKLAND CHAIR OF ZOOLOGY
Dr. J. E. Morton Chosen (New Zealand Press Association) AUCKLAND, Dec. 2. Dr. John Edward Morton, lecturer in biology at Queen Mary College, University of London, has accepted appointment to the chair of zoology at Auckland University. Dr. Morton, from 1942 to 1945, was a student at Auckland University College, where he gained his B.Sc. In 1946 he was demonstrator in zoology, and gained his M.Sc. with first-class honours the - following year.
He was awarded the Dominion and Colonial Research Exhibition to Trinity College, Cambridge, in 1950, but did not take it up, going instead to the University of London, where he furthered his work and interests, particularly in marine biology. He was appointed assistant lecturer at Queen Mary College in 1952, and from 1954 has been a lecturer.
