BRITISH EXPERT ON HARBOURS
Inspection Of Port Facilities In N.Z. (New Zealand Press Association) WELLINGTON, Dec. 2. The director of the hydraulics section of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research of the United Kingdom, Mr Fergus Allen, is visiting New Zealand harbours. Mr Allen is in New Zealand at the invitation of the Tauranga Harbour Board to advise on longterm improvements to that harbour. Mr Allen has already worked on a system of possible improvenents on information forwarded him by the board and by the Ministry of Works. In Wellington he discussed with he Ministry of Works short-term mprovements to the harbour enrance. He has already visited Vhangarei and Auckland, and this morning he left for the South Island to visit the Lyttelton and Otago harbours. He will then fly to Auckland, and’ leave there on Saturday for England.
