BRITISH LINER REFLOATED

Little Damage In Storm

(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) GIBRALTAR, Dec. 1.

The 17,029-ton Union Castle liner, Braema’’ Captie, which ran aground in a gale near Gibraltar last night with 300 passengers aboard, was refloated this afternoon after hours of heavy pounding by high seas. But damage is expected to prove negligible. Three British Admiralty tugs, Vagrant, Dexterous, and Confident, which waited all day for the wind to abate, were finally able to battle their way through to her side.

After two hours, they managed to pull her off on a high tide. The liner’s master (Captain L. H. Farrow) radioed that there was no panic on board. Everything was normal, he said. All the passengers were well.
