Halswell County Finances

The finances of the Halswell County Council were in “sound condition,” said the chairman, (Mr J. MacKenzie) presenting his annual report yesterday. His report showed that at the close of the financial year, ended March 31, assets were £20,136 10s 2d, and liabilities £3896 5s 9d. The county has no loan debt. “The substantial credit balance of £12,020 Is 6d will be considerably reduced this year because of uncompleted contracts as at March 31, 1959. “Rates collected represented 98.5 per cent, of the total levy,” said Mr MacKenzie.
