ADVICE TO “GOLF WIDOWERS”
“Women Cannot Play With Worried Minds” (Special Correspondent N.Z.P.A.) (Rec. 10 p.m.) LONDON, December 2. Golf widowers got a special word of praise and advice from Mrs Rennie Gibbs, the retiring captain of the Derbyshire Ladies’ Golf Association, when she talked to delegates at the annual meeting. “I would like you to take home a message to your husbands from me,” she said. “Women cannot play golf when they have worried minds. I find most husbands are good and don't mind feeding out of tins and refrigerators for a day or two if they realise how necessary it is to the county. “This year, the Derbyshire women’s team reached the area finals of the county championship. All of the team had rested minds and no worries, and that meant a lot towards our success. It is nice to leave for a match with a peaceful mind away from the children and with a word of encouragement from your husband.”
