IRRIGATION IN PAPARUA
Consideration Of Scheme Urged An irrigation scheme for Paparua should be considered, the county chairman (Mr J. H. Weaver) said in his annual report to the county council. There had recently been applications from a number of property owners for large quantities of water from the race system for irrigation, he said. “Although it 1 is appreciated that the benefits of irrigation would be considerable, the council on its part is primarily responsible for ensuring that adequate water is supplied for stock purposes.
“It is now faced with a most important policy decision in determining whether the system can be made capable of supplying irrigation requirements or whether it would be more economic to develop or support the development of a separate irrigaWa«v«r sai/i.
