THREAT TO OIL COMPANY
Police On Guard In Milan (N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) MILAN, November 30. Police carrying machine-guns toured Milan by car and on foot tonight with orders to shoot on sight anyone caught tampering with the oil storage tanks or refineries in the city, British United Press reported. The move is the result of an attempt by a man known as the “Mad Bomber” to blow up the Shell Oil Company’s fuel depots. Police were also making spot checks of people thought to be behaving suspiciously. British United Press said the “Mad Bomber” might have struck earlier today. Several goods waggons jumped the rails at a suburban railway station only a few minutes after a train carrying thousands of tons ■of high-octane fuel had passed. It was not yet reported what caused the mishap, but there was speculation that the “Bomber” might have been involved.
