Visit To Test In Karachi

President Eisenhower will see part of the test cricket match between Pakistan and Australia when he is Karachi next week, the White House announced today. He will be taken to the Pakistan national stadium, where the match will be played, by President Ayub Khan on Tuesday, December 8. The White House press secretary, Mr James Hagerty, did not say for how long the President would stay at the match. He is due at the stadium at 11.40 a.m. and his next engagement is not until luncheon at President Ayub's house about 1.45 p.m. President Eisenhower will arrive in Karachi from Ankara, Turkey, on Monday, December 7. His first official function will be an appearance at a dinner in his honour given by President Ayub on Monday night. Next morning, the President will go to the neighbouring polo grounds where General Ayub’s bodyguard will put on a display of riding and tent-pegging. The White House said the President would report to the American people shortly after his return from Europe, Asia and Africa. He is due back the night of December 22.
Continuing his preparations for the long journey, Mr Eisenhower talked for an hour early this morning with Democratic and Republican leaders of the House of Representatives and Senate. He told them he would try to further the United States aim of a more peaceful world, but would undertake no negotiations.
