Summary From Airport
Apart from a lack of rainfall November was an excellent spring month in Christchurch, according to a summary of weather from the Meteorological Office at Harewood airport. For the sixth successive month sunshine was above average and rainfall was below average and both air and earth temperatures were well above average, says the summary.
The highest maximum temperatures were 81.3 degrees at Christchurch Airport on November 29, and 81.2 degrees at the Botanic Gardens on November 17. The lowest minimum temperatures were 35.9 degrees at the airport on November 12 and 39 degrees at the Botanic Gardens on the same day. The greatest rainfall recorded in 24 hours was .20in on November 29 at the Botanic Gardens. There was .18in at the airport on the same day. Two hundred and forty-two hours of bright sunshine were recorded for the month compared with the average of 212 hours.
