Sir Ralph Grey
Sir, —In a recent letter Ralph S. Wheeler cites assistance given by the British Labour movement to the Nigerian trade unions, and mentions that postal courses are being provided by the British labour colleges. Although this aid by fellow trade unionists is to be much admired I am deeply puzzled by his reference to “British labour colleges” and would welcome information re-
garding such establishments. I know of only one that could possibly come under the category of a Labour college in the wide sense, namely, the London School of Economics, which is fully recognised and affiliated by the London University. Are there in fact, Labour colleges in Great Britain maintained by the Labour movement, and if so, what is their status.—Yours, etc., “JOHN BENN.” November 30, 1959.
