Newmarket Sales
(N.Z. Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, December 1. The first day of the December bloodstock sales at Newmarket yesterday was a record when 179 lots were sold for 236,890 gns, an average of 1323 gns. This was the best first day aggregate ever and beat the previous record set up in 1954 by 52,593 gns. Top price was the 10,000 gns for the three-year-old filly, Little Mo, winner of five races in Ireland. She will be sent to America.
First Fish.—The first gamefish of the Whangarei Deep Sea Anglers’ Club new season was a 2551 b mako shark caught by the president, Mr Arthur Byles, of Taiharuru point. V(P-A.) ,
