Errors In Counts Of Votes

Major mistakes have played a significant part in the last two Auckland city elections. Each error was in Remuera. In 1956, a magisterial recount produced ‘‘glaring inaccuracies and mistakes” in the official count.
Mr H. Jenner Wily, S.M., changed the official count verdict on more than 600 votes. The recount was a sequel to the discovery of faulty collating of votes at the Somervell Church polling place, Remuera. Communists first seemed to have polled heavily in a Conservative area.
