TASMANIAN LOTTERY
“No More N2. Business?
HOBART. December I.
The Tasmanian lotteries organisation does not propose to seek any New Zealand business in future, the Tasmanian Premier (Mr E. E. Reece) told a Commonwealth commission today. He said he had received this advice from the organisation. He said its agents in New Zealand had been informed. A consultation drawn by the lottery yesterday marked the last in which New Zealand subscribers would be interested. They won the first three major prizes. The Premier told the Grants Commission that the decision would mean that Tasmanian funds accumulated in New Zealand because of the lotteries would be fairly static after this year. He had previously informed the commission that two ferry steamers purchased by the Tasmanian Government in New Zealand had been paid for out of funds accumulated in the Dominion.
