LODGING OF APPEAL
L. D. Ashton’s Action
The Yaldhurst trainer, L. D. Ashton, had lodged an appeal with the New Zealand Trotting Conference against the decision of the stewards to disqualify him for three years after he had been found guilty of failing to take proper precautions to prevent a drug being administered to his horse, Space King, before he won at the New Brighton Trotting Club’s meeting on September 19. The inquiry was held in Christchurch last week.
Under the Rules of Trotting the appeal has to be heard within four weeks. No date has yet been set for the hearing. W. E. Taylor, who was found guilty under the same rules as Ashton and also disqualified for three years, and D. A. Morland, who was on Monday disqualified for life for administering drugs to his horsey Bon Ton, at Methven cm September 28, have 14 days after the decision was announced in which to lodge appeals.
