The Estuary

Sir,—l support Albion Wright on his complaints about smells in the Estuary His suggestion of stop gates between Shag Rock and the New Brighton spit is an idea that 1 advocated over 30 years ago. I went further and suggested building a road on the top with two scenic drives one up the Estuary and the other up the foreshore to South Brighton. This would do away with the smells by keeping the level at high tide and improve drainage, besides making a fine acquatic course.—Yours, etc.. S. W. HICKMOTT. November 19, 1959.
