VICE-REGAL The Ambassador of Thailand (Mr Vadhana Isarabhakdi) yesterday presented his letter of credence to the Governor-General (Lord Cobham). —(P.A.)
The French Commander-in-Chief in the Pacific, Rear-Admiral J. C. Evenou, accompanied by Capitaine de Corvette Van de Walle, who is his under chief of staff, and an aide de camp, Ensign de Vaisseau Ducellier, will visit New Zealand as guests of the Government. They will arrive in Wellington by air on November 30 and leave by air for New Caledonia from Auckland on December B.—(P.A.) Mr Justice Shorland, of Auckland, who has been sitting at the Christchurch Supreme Court for the last week, will leave Christchurch today. On Monday Mr Justice Turner will arrive from Auckland to take proceedings at the Court in the absence of Mr Justice Macarthur, who will be presiding at the Greymouth Supreme Court for a week.
Mr P. K. Mayhew has resigned his position as director of the Penal Division of .the Justice Department, to return to England. He will be succeeded by Mr K. Menzies.—(PA.)
