Harewood Airport

Sir,—lf subdivision* of the freedraining, ideal subdivisiqnal land surrounding the . Christchurch Airport was allowed, we are told by members of the City Council, it would be the end of the airport. Yet those landowners (you could hardly call them that now), are losing thousands of pounds on the value of their land. Mr Hay worries about the cost to the city in rates' to the Paparua County for the aerodrome. It would be interesting to know the

amount, and I suggest it is probably too little in relation to the maintenance of roads, not mentioning damage by trespassers to ratepayers’ property, including creating fire hazards. The loss to the several hundreds 'of Waimairi and Paparua ratepayers protecting the airport is probably thousands of pounds each, whereas the cost to the many thousands of city ratepayers using the- airport is very small.— Yours, etc., PAPARUA.
