Stock Exchange Disapproval

The Stock Exchange Association of New Zealand does not approve of the new articles of association adopted by’ the Tasman Pulp and Paper Company, Ltd.

This was stated yesterday by the president of the association <Mr J. H. Griffiths). He was commenting on a Press Association report from Auckland, published yesterday, on the extraordinary general meeting of the company’s shareholders, called to consider the new articles. The new articles provide, inter alia, for the offer direct to the Bowater Corporation of one million new shares at par. The Tasman chairman (Sir James Fletcher), in reply to a shareholder, was reported to have said the company had taken pains to satisfy the requirements of the Stock Exchange. Mr Griffiths said the association did not intend to delist the company at this juncture “but reserves the right to do so at any time. All association members have been advised of the position,” he said.
