CONSUMER SERVICE

Committee Discusses Policy The recently-appointed district committee of the Consumer Service, on Wednesday discussed policy and formulated plans for the future, says a supplied statement. Until committees are set up in provincial towns, the Christchurch committee will represent consumers in the northern half of the South Island except Marlborough and Nelson, the statement says. One of the duties of the consumer committees is to act as a channel for consumer opinions both as individuals and organisations. Persons who have complaints or wish to make inquiries or suggestions are asked to forward them to Consumer Service, P.O, Box 1350, Christchurch. The committee will make representations to the National Council, to Government departments and to other authorities as the case may require. The service also plans to issue a bulletin similar to overseas publications. Also discussed was the type of information members of the committee could supply.
