Mr Mathison & Harewood Airport
Sir,—Mr . Mathison appears, from his remarks reported yesterday, to be as enthusiastic over P.A.A. proposals to fly into Christchurch as a school boy is over homework. Saying that it was up to the United States Government to approach his Government to gaip Tasman rights for P.A.A. to fly its Boeing jets into Christchurch is, to my mind, just another way of filing the whole matter. The Minister said that his Government will not be guided by short-term parochial interests. Surely the proposals regarding Mangere could not Le called long-term national aviation interest Even the much-talked-about Rongotai could not come into this category, for since it was officially opened it has been out of action many times. —Yours, etc., N.F.G.
