Ski-ing OLYMPIC TEAM TRAINING
Snow Unsuitable At Ruapehu Because very warm wealher had made the snow unsuitable for racing ski-ing, the New Zealand Olympic ski team would probably be unable to practice at Mount Ruapehu next month, as originally planned, said the president of the New Zealand Ski Association (Mr R. S. Duncan). The association’s council would meet in Wellington in about 10 days, and further arrangements for the team would be discussed then, said Mr Duncan. Although it now appeared the team would get no further practice on the snow in this country, the four members were keeping at peak fitness with special exercises. Mr Duncan, who is also manager' of the team to Squaw Valley, said the team would reach the United States three or four weeks before the Olympics. “There are several race meetings there before the Olympics, and our team should -he able to get top competition-and practic? then £. We have already received an official invitation to compete at Aspen. Colorado, a few day* before the Olympics start.”
