Trotting LAND FOR NEW TRACK
Manawatu Club’s Purchase (Neu 6euiuna Press Association/ PALMERSTON NTH., Nov. 12. What is probably the first step towards the establishment of a trotting track in the Awapuni area was taken by the Manawatu Trotting Club today when it purchased at auction a 63-acre block of land on Pioneer highway, just more than two miles from the Palmerston North Post Office. Bidding for the land, offered on behalf of J. M. Devine, was keen, and the club went to £250 an acre to secure the section. For many years, the Manawatu Trotting Club has lacked its own course, and has used the Manawatu Racing Club’s Awapuni course on a rental basis.
