BELFAST, October 8. Stewart Allison, of Milton, New Zealand, is among the contestants in the world ploughing championships which begin near the little village of Armoy, County Antrim today.
Sixteen countries will be represented in the contest for the Golden Plough trophy. During the competitions, which take place over the next two davs. ploughmen will use 12 different makes of tractors and 14 makes of ploughs. The secretary of the world ploughing organisation, Mr Alfred Hall, said he felt conditions would favour competitors from Great Britain. They would be more familiar with the type of work required.
“Undulating land and thin soil will be new to most of the competitors,” he said.
