Traffic Control
Sir, —The resolution to be forwarded by Residents Affiliated to Mr Mathison and the City Council is in the nature of a non sequitur. If traffic officers are to be given the equivalent of police powers while on traffic duty, there should be Police Department control. Otherwise the position will become still more ambiguous. At present the various headquarters of major traffic control are situated in cities over which it has no control. An officer on duty passing to and from his headquarters through territory under another’s control is placed in an equivocal position.—Yours, etc., OLD KENT ROAD. October 2, 1959.
