CHINESE SEAMEN FINED
I Dutiable Goods Found In Dutch Ship (New Zeaiana Press Association) AUCKLAND, October 4. • For being found in possession 1 of dutiable goods concealed in J the ship, three Chinese seamen 1 of the Van Waerwijck were each fined £3O by Mr M. C. Astley 1 S.M., in the Magistrate’s Court ! at Auckland. ' One of the men had been J found with a transistor radio concealed under his shirt. A sub- 1 sequent search revealed 14 binoculars, 1400 cigarettes, and 18 cartons of cigarettes, said Mr D. Morris, prosecuting for the Customs Department. In another cabin Customs officers found five cartons of cigarettes, three umbrellas, four toys, three boxes of cigars, and a binocular. In the third man’s ■ cabin two transistor radios, 13 : cartons of cigarettes, and 21 ■ watches and straps were found.
