Answer To Correspondents Just Curious. — The inter-island jockeys’ match would probably be of as high a standard as some matches played this year, but it could not be classified as a first class fixture because, besides other things, it is played on a Sunday. The New Zealand Rugby Union had ruled that the following teams have first class status. New Zealand, A New Zealand Fifteen, New Zealand Trial Fifteens, interisland teams, New Zealand Maori teams, a New Zealand Maori Fifteen, New Zealand Maori Trial teams, Maori district unions, affiliated unions. New Zealand Combined Services (against provincial or overseas teams only), New Zealand University, University inter-island teams, affiliated clubs and any other side approved by the union. The Barbarian (New Zealand), Centurions. Harlequin (New Zealand), Olympians, Vikings, Evergreens and Cantabrian clubs have been approved, but matches between these clubs are not of first class status unless approved by the union. Matches played on a Sunday lose first class status.
Football Fan. — T. Davies played in nine games for the British Isles, against Poverty Bay-East Coast, South Canterbury-North Otago-Mid-Canterbury, Southland, West Coast-Buller, New Zealand (second test), Junior All Blacks. Maoris, North Auckland. New Zealand (fourth test)
