COMMONWEALTH TOURNAMENT

Discontinuation Recommended (New Zealand Pres. Association) PARAPARAUMU. Sept. 25. The New Zealand Golf Association will recommend discontinuation ot the Commonwealth tournament series, to a meeting of the countries to be held in Johannesburg during the championships this year. The meeting, held at the Paraparaumu Beach Golf Club this evening. resolved "with regret” that it was of the opinion that the tournament should be discontinued as constituted.

Thomson, will not contest the New Zealand professional match-play title at Paraparaumu next week. No captain will be appointed in the New Zealand golf team for the Commonwealth tournament at Johannesburg in November, the New Zealand Golf Association decided at a meeting in Paraparaumu this evening. The association’s president (Mr G. P. Roberts) will be manager-captain of the team.
