Surf Life-Saving NATIONAL TITLE MEETING
Dissatisfaction At Clash Of Dates
Dissatisfaction at the fixing of dates for next year’s national surf life-saving championships so that they clash with the New Zealand swimming championships, is expressed in a letter from the Canterbury Surf Association to the New Zealand Surf Council. The surf titles are set down for Gisborne on February 19-21, and the swimming championships for Blenheim on February 17-21. Many pool swimmers who also compete for life-saving clubs will be prevented from attending both meetings. At a meeting of the Canterburyassociation this week, members said the two national organisations should have consulted one another before fixing the dates. A letter was received from the Wellington association advising that Sunday, March 13. was the date set for the interprovincial contests with Canterbury. The annual meeting and dinner of the Canterbury association was fixed lor October 15.
