COMMISSIONING OF HOSPITAL

Dr. L.C.L. Averill’s Work Praised

High praise for the work of Dr. L. C. L. Averill, as chairman of Princess Margaret Hospital commissioning committee was expressed by the North Canterbury Hospital Board at its meeting yesterday. Dr. Averill’s work as chairman of the committee for three years had been an example to all members of untiring work, said Mr L. Christie. The board was fortunate in having Dr. Averill as its chairman.

A replica of the book on the hospital presented to the Gover-nor-General (Viscount Cobham) at the opening ceremony was presented to Dr. Averill.

To every meeting of the committee, Dr. Averill had brought sound judgment and a wide knowledge of hospitals, said Mrs J. E. Mackay. The hospital had been a “good team job,” said Dr. Averill. The board also recorded its appreciation of the work done by the staff associated in the commissioning and opening of the hospital. 1
