Lunik

Sir,—Replying to D. W. S. Chambers, the entropy law of increasing disorder implies a lower range of intelligence today than, say, 1000 years ago. In addition, the present emphasis on speed and comfort rather than on personal safety implies that the average intelligence is reduced, also. (This is because the risk accompanying motor or air travel indicates that mito no longer completely controls his mechanisms as he once could). Lowering of both intelligence and its range suggests that mankind is degenerating. Thus Lunik is not true advance.—Yours, etc, D.I.S. September 23, 1959.
