N.Z. KINDERGARTEN CONFERENCE

Delegates Meet At

Timaru

(New Zealand Press Association) TIMARU, Sept. 23.

A disinclination by most delegates to seek increased Government grants and subsidies towards the working of their kindergartens, was a feature of today’s discussion of remits at the Dominion conference of the New Zealand Free Kindergarten Union. During the afternoon seven remits which sought an increase of assistance were rejected. An Upper Hutt remit “that the Free Kindergarten Union request the Department, of Education to consider paying approved untrained staff, who have given at least four years’ service under a trained director, a salary equal to that paid to a first-year assistant,” was carried. A Kawerau remit “that representations be made to the Minister of Customs for remission of sales tax on typewriters and duplicators used by Free Kindergarten Associations,” was carried.
