SHED DESTROYED BY. FIRE
Outbreak In Papanui A shed on a property at 35 Moreland avenue, Papanui, owned by Mt and Mrs K. R Clearwater, was destroyed by fire about mid-day yesterday. A section of paling fence was also destroyed in the blaze, which also damaged a garage on a neighbouring property in which a car had been parked only a few hours before. The fire was quickly brought under control by units from the Central and St. Albans fire stations. Neighbours also gave assistance in attempting to quell the blaze with garden hoses in the early stages. Five bicycles, and children’s toys in the shed, were destroyed. Mr and Mrs Clearwater have been in the Christchurch Hospital suffering from infective hepatitis. Four of their six children, who have been looked after by volunteer helpers, were at home about the time the fire broke out.
