"naming of new HOSPITAL
Princess Is “Most Happy” Princess Margaret is happy about Christchurch naming its new hospital after her, and her private secretary has written to the North Canterbury Hospital board telling it so. The letter was sent to the board chairman (Dr. L. C. L. Averill).
In the letter the secretary said: “Her Royal Highness, who is most happy that your very fine new hospital should bear her name, greatly appreciated the kind sentiments you expressed on behalf of the North Canterbury Hospital Board. “She would be grateful if you would convey to your members her sincere pleasure in receiving them. “I would add that the Princess will be happy, in due course, to receive any information on the valuable work that this hospital will be performing,” the letter said. A copy of the souvenir booklet commemorating the opening of Princess Margaret Hospital has been sent to the Princess.
