N.Z. Officer To Visit Hawaii (From Our Own Reporter) WELLINGTON, Sept. 16. One of New Zealand's armoured specialist officers, Captain J. Brown, G.S.O. 111, Southern Military District Headquarters, will leave shortly on a familiarisation visit to Hawaii, where he will study American armoured equipment. Captain Brown, who is an old boy of Christchurch Boys’ High School, is a graduate of the Royal Military College, Duntroon. He served in Japan with J Force and later was at Waiouru. During the war in Korea, Captain Brown served for more than
a year with the British Commonwealth Division, being attached to the Bth Hussars, a British armoured regiment When the Bth Hussars was transferred to Germany, he remained in Korea and served on. the staff of the British Commonwealth Division.
When he returned to New Zealand, Captain Brown served for a time in Napier where he was adjutant of the 4th Armoured Regiment. Later he was at Waiouru as an instructor at the Royal New Zealand Armoured Corps depot. For the last 18 months. Captain Brown has been serving at Southern Military District Headquarters.
The resignation of Mr J. Manson, of Hanmer Springs, from the council of the Canterbury Progress League *was accepted with regret at a meeting of the council last evening.
