SYDNEY, August 30.

The New Zealand pacer Guiseppe furthered his chances of qualifying for the £5OOO Anniversary Cup in October with a stylish win in the Harold Park Handicap last night. Starting favourite at 5-4, Guiseppe beat Kildare Star by three-quarters of a length with Delvyn Ringer a neck back in third place. Another New Zealand hope. Dune, broke badly at the start and was not a possibility, finishing tenth.

Guiseppe has to win two more races to qualify for the Anniversary Cup. Last night he was driven by P. J. Hall in the absence of his regular trainer-driver. Max Allen, who is under a two months’ suspension. Guiseppe began slowly and raced wide practically all the way. Hall was forced to pull the whip in the straight but Guiseppe responded gamely to win.
