SUSPENSION OF JOCKEY
J. Garth At Wanganui
(New Zealand Press Association) WANGANUI, August 30.
J. Garth, rider of Switzerland in the Marangai Handicap at the Wanganui Jockey Club's meeting yesterday, was charged under Rule 289 (2A and 3) with having caused interference to Alonsun (V. R. Coley) and O’Reilly’s Bar (R. W. Taylor) approximately three-quarters of a furlong from the start of the race. Evidence was heard from the stipendiary steward, the patrol steward, B. P. Wood (Kenloch), L. K. Tinsley (Cloncarrig), R. W. Taylor (O’Reilly’s Bar), V. R. Coley (Alonsun), and a statement was given by J. Garth. The judicial committee found the charge proved and suspended Garth up to 5 p.m. on September 12. 1959
