Councillor Guthrey’s Retirement
Sir, —The news that Councillor A. R. Guthrey is not seeking reelection to the Christchurch City Council will be received with widespread regret. Councillor Guthrey has served this city ■well and he will in particular always be associated with the Christchurch International Airport. It is largely through his foresight, enthusiasm, and tenacity of purpose that our airport is tiie finest in the land. Air transportation probably means more to Christchurch than to any other city in the Dominion and the modern facilities now available at -arewood will ever remind us of the drive and unrelenting efforts of Councillor Guthrey.—Yours etc. S. F. MARSHALL. August 26. 1959.
