Women's Diving
The Y.M.C.A. (Auckland) swimming club is to apply for the admission of Mrs Patsy Plowman (formerly Miss Lowe) to the New Zealand diving championships to be held at Blenheim in February. Mrs Plowman is at present in the United States training under the former Olympic champion, Miss Pat McCormick, but she will return to Auckland early in October. She will be unable to fulfil residential qualifications and therefore will be unable to win the national title. Should she create a favourable impression, however, she could gain selection in the 1960 New Zealand Olympic Games team. She finished eighth in a strong field when competing in the United States women's tower diving event recently. Her husband. A. Plowman, who left New Zealand two years ago to dive professionally .in the United States, will return with her. At present he is carrying out a heavy itinerary in Canada.
