HELP FOR THE CRIPPLED
Funds Raised BySchoolgirls
In the mail last week the secretary of the Canterbury and West Coast branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children Society received a peatly-printed letter from a small girl. The letter said the girl and her friend "organised ,to have a fair; we thought that the money we received would help to provide some little thing ; for a child." A donation was enclosed. On another afternoon last week, two standard six girls brought in a donation raised by making sweets and cakes which they had sold on a Saturday morning at the gate of their home. Several weeks ago a group of standard four girls from a Christchurch i school, organised a bring and buy to help children less fortunate | than themselves. The same group ' raised a further amount from : doing odd jobs for neighbours. I • This information was given by the secretary of the branch who isays: "Some of your readers may be interested to know about some of the unusual sources from iwhich this society receives donations. It is indeed refreshing and encouraging to receive these notes, to meet these young girls, and to know of their kindly thoughtfulness for others.”
